Mo’ Town
You might have noticed a significant increase in facial fluff amongst the male population. November is the month where the male community bonds over the communal growing of a moustache (the ultimate symbol of virility), to raise funds for men’s health issues.
Movember has fast become an iconic annual charity event involving participation and support from the entire community. While I`m aware that most readers aren`t of the male variety, there are still ways you can take part in Movember through various events and competitions.
Locally, some Perth business have gathered together to hold a photographic competition entitled “Lomovember” where photographers unveiled their artistic/retro urges through use of a lomo camera and produced some beautiful work. I was lucky enough to attend the opening in Northbridge, where all funds raised went towards Movember. It was a great of evening of photo gazing, retro camera shopping and cupcake eating. For more information check out the Lomovember website.
Internationally, t-shirt company Threadless, king of the quirky tee, recently ran a competition to design the best t-shirt in the theme “Moustaches in the wild”. To pick up your size tee in the winning design, head to the Threadless website.
For those participating in this years Movember adventure, here are some tips:
1. Your mo is a living breathing organism, and as such it demands maintenance. Trim and comb as required, remember we still have to look at your face.
2. Pick a mo style that suits your face or, if you’re in it for fun, something wildly outrageous.

Stylin staches.
3. Wear your stache with confidence; a mo is a powerful thing. Just look at Tom Selleck.
So men, go forth and wear your staches with pride; you are doing a wonderful thing for your fellow man. Ladies, show your support for your man, give him a lil extra love (even if you’re not too keen on the mo), remember it comes off at the end of the month.
P.S. If you wish to donate to this worthy cause visit the Movember website.
